What does empowerment look like? Sometimes, it looks like 1,100 neatly stitched cloth bags handed over with pride — and quiet tears of joy.

At Aasamant Snehalaya, Wardha, run by Aarambh Bahuddesheey Sanstha, there is an ongoing effort to create self-employment opportunities for the distressed, divorced, and widowed women residing at the ashram. Under the guidance of founder Shivaji Chaudhari, a cloth bag stitching initiative was started to help these women meet their small daily expenses through honest, dignified work.

Around this time, Smt. Gauri Deshpande of Shri Veda Foundation, Nagpur visited the ashram. When she learned about the initiative, she immediately placed an order for 1,100 cloth bags. It was not just an order — it was a vote of confidence in the women’s capability.

For the next full month, the women stitched with dedication and determination. And when the day came to deliver the completed bags, the smiles on their faces and the tears in their eyes spoke louder than any words.

The money earned from this order became more than income — it became proof of their capability, their dignity, and their strength.

“When women are given a chance and the right guidance, they don’t just survive — they thrive.”

This small step in Wardha is a large leap toward the self-reliance of women who society had once abandoned. At Aasamant Snehalaya, we are committed to creating many more such opportunities — because every woman deserves the chance to write her own story.
